Hi again! Another issue we’re having is with caching and specifically WP rocket plugin. This sometimes (a lot) are resulting in the cookie banner not showing. It always shows up on our staging website where it does not have WP rocket chaching.

What JS should I exclude from caching to make sure that the Cookie compliance banner will always shows up and not be stopped by any kind of caching?

    thank you!

    Hi @Panos Pantousas

If there are issues with WP rocket, we would recommend to exclude the following scripts from caching:
    gdpr-cookie-compliance/dist/scripts/main.js

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

Thanks for your response, I’ll try to exclude this script and see if it improves the issues we experienced with the cookie notice.

Hey guys, I have some more info on the issue. This is only happening with the geoLocation feature enabled. On our staging website where we do not have any kind of caching the geolocation cookie notice works as expected, I get the notice on EU IPs and not on eg US IPs. So, there must be an issue with caching the and the geolocation external service (?). Can you suggest any kind of pre-fetching any external service or exclude any specific script that the geolocation feature relies on?

    Thank you!
    best regards
    Panos

    Hi Panos,

We checked the source code of your site and we cannot find the following javascript that is used by our plugin:

    gdpr-cookie-compliance/dist/scripts/main.js

It means that you are using some caching plugin (or server level caching) that merges our javascript file with another which causes the issue you described.

What we would recommend is to exclude the above javascript file from any caching in order for it to work properly.

Alternatively, you can speak to your hosting provider and ask them to check if this javascript merging happens at server level.
